Academy Duo Called into Squad

Morrow is a Northern Ireland youth international striker, and it's been said has been included due to his great form in training ahd the reserves while Republic of Ireland Under 17 Captain Nash played a part in the clubs pre-season campaign, impressing manager Joe Royle, who last week handed Gerard a squad number.

Darren Bent misses out due to a knee injury picked up at the weekend game with Wimbledon, Diallo misses out due to picking up an injury in the same match while Bart-Williams has not been given permission to play in the competition by Charlton, and Miller, Reuser, McGreal and Makin all miss out due to longer term injuries.

Also included in the squad looking to make his first team debut is former Newcastle target Matthew Bloomfield, who takes the number of home grown players in the squad up to eight.
