Speaking to the Official Leciester City website, the Foxes boss said: "It is a good move for Matt Elliott because he is going to play a game of football in a first team.
"He has been frustrated. This is the longest period he has had in the reserves since he has been at Leicester City. It is a new experience for him and it is an experience that he doesn’t particularly enjoy.
“Joe Royle told me he needed experience for their promotion battle in the First Division. Matt fits that bill.
“Matthew Heath has come in and done very well and Nikos Dabizas is settling into his role. We have also got Riccy Scimeca, Ben Thatcher and Callum Davidson who can play at centre half. I felt that it was time for Matt to move on and get some football inside him."
