According to todays East Anglian Daily Times, Ambrose is one of the names on Royle's shortlist to spice up and improve Town's laclusture midfield which has so far this season failed to spark into form.
Ambrose has been ruled out of action of late with Newcastle due to picking up shin splints, but scored last night for Newcastle Reserves against Aston Villa in a match thought to be watched by officials from Town.
It is likely that the move, should it go ahead, would be good for all parties involved, with Darren Ambrose himself keen to return to his old club while in search of regular first team football alongside best friend Darren Bent,
Bobby Robson would want Ambrose to gain a bit more experience on loan as his former club rather than just languishing in the reserves, Ambrose has played just one senior game for Newcastle since joining them last year, and of course Royle needs Ambrose to stregethen his midfield.
However, the only grey area over the possible loan move is Ambrose's wages, which are expected to be quite a bit higher than they were at Portman Road, with Joe Royle only having a small ammount of money. Lets hope he has enough and Ambrose returns to Portman Road Soon.
