The 24 year old midfielder was not included Charlton's squad which travelled to Plymouth for today's Coca-Cola Championship clash having been involved in Charlton's nine games prior to this afternoons clash at Home Park.
Academy product Ambrose left Town in March 2003 for Newcastle, following Town entering administration due to financial issues at Portman Road stemming from the relegation from the Premiership in May 2002. Ambrose made 38 appearances for Town, scoring 11 goals during his time at the club.
Ambrose remained at St James' Park until July 2005 when he signed for Charlton, joining fellow former blues Matt Holland and Marcus Bent at The Valley.
