The blues striker joined the Yorkshire club on loan in December initally on a month, after which the deal was extended to three months.
Armstrong then returned to the Blues for a few days when Town met Bradford at Portman Road due to an agreement between the two clubs that didn't allow Armstrong to play in the fixture.
However after returning to Portman Road whilst the loan spell was on hold, the former Middlesborough striker picked up an injury in training and has not returned to Bradford since due to the club entering administration for a second time and therefore not being able to afford his wages.
Rumours this week suggested that the Bantams had managed to find the cash to recommence Alun's loan, but Town boss Joe Royle has admitted due to the club current injury crisis, he is staying at Town.
Speaking to the Official Club Website, Royle confessed: "With the injuries we have got, we have to recall Alun from his loan at Bradford. He will be playing in a friendly for the Reserves against Cambridge University today and hopefully if he comes through that, he will come into consideration for the first-team squad here."
