Foley spent ten years at Carrow Road, being promoted to first-team coach before suprisingly being shown the door. This angered many City fans, who saw his exit as a scapegoat for Worthington's failings.
When Jim Magilton was appointed Town manager on Monday, Royle's assistant Willie Donahie, who had been in charge as caretaker manager, was released from his contract, along with chief scout Colin Suggett.
Bryan Klug was promoted from academy director to first-team coach, with Tony Hume, Klug's assistant last season replacing him as the man in charge of the academy. Foley, if appointed as expected, will be given the task of bridging the gap between the successful academy and the first-team, as he looks to integrate promising young players into the reserve side that Steve McCall was in charge of in 2005/2006.
Magilton is expected to offer McCall the position of chief scout but it obviously remains to be seen whether McCall would be satisfied to be moved out of reserve team coach and into the new position, although he did join Town as a scout in 2000.
Andy Rhodes, the goalkeeping coach is likely to be the only member of the coaching staff going into the coming season in the same role as 2005/2006.
