Bent is Town's highest paid player followed by Martijn Reuser then Pablo Counago and with Town needing to cut the wage bill this summer both Counago and Bent were told they could leave if the right offer came in for them whilst Martijn Reuser has been told he can leave on a free transfer.
Bent spent much of last season on loan at Leciester City to keep him off the Town wage bill, and the Foxes were rumoured to be interested in securing his service full time. However with relegation from the Premiership last term, it has become clear that they will be unable to do this.
Town are looking for a fee for former Blackburn man Bent, and with West Bromwich Albion having been recentley promoted, they look likely to be able to afford to pay one and bring Bent to the Hawthorns to join up with former team-mate Thomas Gaardsoe who left Town for Gary Megson's side last summer.
