"He has been a leader amongst the players for a few years now and is held in the highest regard by all of us. He has everyone's respect so from that point, he is in a strong position to make the transition from player to management very smoothly.
"It's a natural step for him and I'm delighted to see him get the job and I'm sure he will give it 200%.
"That's Jim. His enthusiasm for the game in general and Ipswich Town in general is unrivalled and I'm sure he will prove to be a good choice," he said speaking to the club website.
The strong centre-back also outlined how he thought Jim would improve him as a player and how he had no doubt that from working with Bryan in the past they would make a good team.
