As we revealed earlier today, the inital fee will be a sum of £300,000, with the remaining third of the fee to be paid in a years time. Portsmouth also expressed an interest in signing Bent who joined Town mid-way through the 2001/2 season, but Marcus prefered to move to Goodison Park than Pompey.
Despite the fee not being totally up-front Town will be glad to get Bent's £17,000 per week wages off their books, and with Martijn Reuser also said to be in talks about a move back to his Native Holland, if both players leave it could enable Town to save at least a massive £1.5M off their yearly wage bill.
Pablo Counago would then be the only player left on a Premiership contract at Town, and Joe Royle has already admitted that if any offers came in for the Spainard he would be forced to listen, but the sale of all three of the high wage earners would almost certainly mean no youngsters would be sold this Summer.
