Bent Nets Two for England

Bent came off the bench with 25 minutes to go in the clash with the scores tied at 1-1 after Burkhardt had given Poland the lead before Carlton Cole had equalised for the visitors on the stroke of half time.

Bent scored his first of the evening and fifth for his country at Under 21 level with 18 minutes to go for the young lions, converting a penalty after Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant was brought down by the Polish defence.

Ten minutes later Bent doubled the lead and his tally for the night when Aston Villa striker Carlton Cole sent in a lovely ball to the Town academy product who headed the ball past the goalkeeper from around ten yards to secure the win for Peter Taylor's side.
