Bowditch has made just one start so far this season for the club which was against Notts County in the Carling Cup earlier in the season which the club were knocked out in.
Despite this though, Royle has said he may turn to Bowditch to change things up front: "Dean could feature in a big part of the Derby match. It was a bit too much for him to handle against Notts County, but he is getting sharper all the while and gathering pace.
Bowditch set for Cup Start?
"He is also growing into a bigger lad, close to six feet tall. I have great faith in his ability to make a big name for himself in the game, although I would like to see more two-yard finishers.
"Every goal he has scored I can still remember, which shows the quality he produces. Goals have dried up and perhaps we need to try something fresh."
