The Norweigan midfielder impressed on a trial at the end of last month and was offered a two-year deal by the club.

The player who was plying his trade with second division Norweigan club Brumunddal was orginally reported to be on an amateur contract, whilst also studying for a teaching qualification at university.

However, ITFM can reveal that the player has been recieving a nominal wage, to cover travel costs, and in the eyes of the law is therefore considered a professional. This means that he would not be available until the January transfer window.

Joe Royle though, speaking to Ipswich World, hopes to have the 24-year old available before then,

"Vermunds with us now and at the latest he will be clear to play for us from January 1st onwards.

"But if we can tweak the regulations in the meantime, then maybe sooner. When I say tweak I mean find a legal loophole and we are looking!"

After apologizing to the club for his fitness levels, when on trial, Joe lamented that he wished all his players were as fit as Vermund, who has only been training 3 times a week in Norway.

On his new signing Joe continued by saying, "He's a ball winning midfield player who will bring something different to the squad. He can play as well and is a tremendously fit lad."
