And Bullard told BBC Radio Suffolk: "He's a real quick, tidy little player. He did brilliantly.
"The gaffer put him out on the left flank. I think he did a blinding job and we'll see a lot more of Josh."
He added: "He's a calm boy and he's a confident boy. I wish him all the best and I'm sure he's going to be a great addition to our squad.
"I've seen a lot of youngsters at this club that can come up and hopefully push towards the first team."
Town youth product Carson is part of the Northern Ireland Under-19 squad for two friendlies against Slovakia next month.
Meanwhile Bullard, who is on loan at Portman Road from Hull, has eased fears over a knock he picked up during the victory over the Iron.
The 32-year-old has played limited football over the last three years because of a series of knee problems, and said a painful collision at the weekend was nothing to be concerned about.
"It wasn't so much a twist it was more a clatter. He hit me late and really caught me on the bone. I really felt something," he explained.
"But it was nothing to do with my old injury. It was just above the shin and it really hurt at the time, but it's one of those you can run off."
