Royle told the club website: "The players were terrific and I cant praise them enough.
"We were up against a strong side yet played the better football and although we really needed three points, i'm delighted with the performance."
Two town players made their debut, Casement and Skard making subsititute appearences. The Town manager reserved special praise for the 18 year-old commenting: "Chris Casement was terrific when he came on for his debut.
"Shane Supple made two or three good saves and the front two of Lee and Fuller gave their defence a torrid time."
Despite his satisifaction with the performance Royle was left lamenting another red card. Royle said: "The fans were giving Ricardo a hard time, and in his frustration he stuck two fingers up at them. I don't believe that is a sending-off offence.
"Ive said this a few times already this week but we are not a dirty side yet we've had six players sent-off. Those decisions have cost us perhaps 10 points and thats the difference between us and the play-offs."
Palace Manager Iain Dowie felt his side had enough chances to have sealed a win. Dowie told their club website: "It was an entertaining game against a good side.
"We could have killed it off later on but we didnt against an Ipswich side who were a little bit more direct than they normally are but credit to them, they also play the ball about well when they get it down."
The draw leaves Ipswich eight points off the play-off pace.
