The 35 year old centre back has joined Town from Leicester City initally for a month, and Bent feels that the man who has won 18 caps for Scotland will help sort out the blues defensive problems.
"We have two centre-halves missing and he has come in and has experience. He is a very good player and an international so he has got the quality. Hopefully it can be good for us and he can stay a bit longer and extend the loan." he told the Essex Evening Gazette.
Bent is likely to lead the attack against Walsall tonight for the blues alongside Shefki Kuqi.
