Bent has been linked to Newcastle numerous times in the past, and with best friend and former team-mate Darren Ambrose already at Tyneside with former blues Kieron Dyer and Titus Bramble, a move to Newcastle may be attractive for Darren.
However with Town asking season ticket holders to renew in order to stave off having to sell youngsters, any element of spin by the Town board about the sale of youngsters is likely to mean that Chairman David Sheepshanks' position comes under high pressure once more.
Only last season Town and Matt Holland announced that if enough season tickets were sold, the Republic of Ireland international would not need to be sold. Town exceded their expectations for season ticket sales, however Holland was still sold, due to lack of funds which angered many fans.
