Diallo joined the club from Burnley on a free transfer in the Summer of 2003, and after a good start, he collided with team-mate Georges Santos in September and required surgery which ruled him out of action until the new year.
After returning from injury, Drissa struggled to make any kind of positive impact on the clubs fortunes, and seemed to be a shadow of his early season self.
Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, Drissa said: “People don't always realise how difficult it is sometimes to come back from a bad injury. It is never easy. Every other club I have played the supporters have been happy with me.
“That is why it was frustrating. If I knew I was at my best then I would say fair enough, I have done my best, but I know I can do better. I tried to do my best but I knew I was not ready.
"Friends and old team-mates would come and see me play and say 'that was not the real Drissa' I knew myself I was not playing as well as I can. But this is a new season - a new start, and I'm looking forward to it and I feel ready.”
Drissa has played at right back on a number of occasions for the team, and says he is not worried where manager Joe Royle picks him: “If the manager thinks I can do the job at right back I will do the job. It is the same at centre back or in a three it is no problem to me.”
