The former Sunderland player also had words of advice for Tommy Smith who has been named in the New Zealand squad for football's biggest showpiece in South Africa.
Speaking to the Official Club Website, Edwards said: "We were the smallest nation to reach the World Cup and Trinidad just went crazy when we played our matches. It was a fantastic experience for us as players and for the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
"Obviously we are disappointed we are not out there in South Africa this year but I know Tommy is and I hope he enjoys the tournament as much as I did four years ago.
"The World Cup is a fantastic occasion and you have to try and take in every moment."
