Wilnis beat fellow defenders Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor to the award. He told the club website: "I thought Jason or Bam Bam would have won it this year but im delighted to have pipped them to the award."

"I have been lucky to have enjoyed a terrific relationship with the fans here since I arrived at the Club and now I have something to look at and remember the supporters by when my career is over."

Fabian is keen to follow up this award next season: "It would be great to play my part in the Club winning promotion back to the Premiership next season and retain the trophy as player of the year."
