Sir Bobby will always have a place in the hearts of all Ipswich Town fans after all of the magnificent achievements he undertook whilst in charge of the club, in my opinion the best years in the history of the club - he truly put the Town of Ipswich on the Map as far as Football was concerned, not just throughout England, but also Europe as a whole.
I can say I've had the pleasure of meeting Sir Bobby in the past, and you couldn't wish to meet someone nicer in not just football, but life as a whole. His passion for both football and life always shined through. He always gave it his all, in every respect of life. Even when the odds were stacked against him, he continued to fight them and raise money for his charity and making the most of the time he had left with never a word of discontent.
Sir Bobby was a truly magnificent and brave man who had time for everyone, always happy to give a friendly word, and a smile to everyone who came across him. He was a one in a million person, a true gent, respected by everyone in the football community throughout the world - the likes of which we are unlikely to ever see again - rest in peace Sir Bobby - we'll never forget you and will miss you deeply.

I was never around for the Ipswich or England Sir Bobby era, but it didnt take long to find out what a ledgend he was for club and country. Like linesman, i dont have much time for many managers apart from Ipswich ones. But Sir Bobby warranted the respect he got from the whole footballing community....world wide, many football fans young & old will get a smile on their face when you mention the name 'Sir Bobby'.
Im sure when the time comes for me to have children and i take them to their first ITFC home game and they say 'Daddy, whos that pointing man?' I will say with pride and honour 'That (name) is one of the best footballing ledgends ever to grace the pitch and dug out Sir Bobby Robson' and then we will go cheer on the super blues from the Britania Stand, whist we hear the roar of the newly names 'Sir Bobby Robson' stand to our left.
RIP, the footballing world will miss you.

What terrible news. Even on Sunday Bobby appeared to still take enjoyment from a game of football. Truly the worlds greatest manager over the last 30 years. I had the pleasure of meeting him and as others have said he was a true gentleman. He maintained his love for ITFC throughout and I hope the blues can mark this sad day forever in the future.

What a man, what a coach, a true sporting ledgend. Bobby Robson was probably the first true inspirational manager that I experienced in my lifetime. Coming from Cumbria I didn't know where Ipswich was, but he certainly put you on the map. Then it was England in 1990. We always expect things going to a World cup,but he gave us the first real belief since 1966! He was down to earth, not big headed like a lot of the managers of today, just a true gentleman and such a fighter with respect to his own personal problems, not that he ever let them get in the way of his public persona. He will be a great loss to the world of not just football but the country as a whole.
Go well Sir Bobby, your like does not come around very often.

I completely agree with all those comments above about Mr Robson, its a genuinely sad piece of news for all footy fans whats happened today.
It was an emotional piece of tv last week, seeing him look so ill for the charity match. But the fact that he was there, smiling and waving to his fans, that showed what a gentleman and all round football man he was.
From a neutral (Barnsley) club fan, and an England fan who wont ever forget world cup 1990 especially... thank you Bobby for all the memories :)

Listening to all the reminiscences from all the ordinary fans that bobby came into contact with made me feel that he opitimises the fact that football remains a real community, a shared experience which the partisan nature of support sometimes makes us forget... a true gentleman, a legend for once in the true sense of the word. i shall miss him and wish his family comfort from the fact that he touched so many lives.

There are some things that happens in life that transcends loyalties. Today I was saddened to hear of the sad passing of that football legend that is Sir Bobby. No football supporter, no matter where their loyalties lie, could fail to be affected by the passing of this great man. He inspired our greatest rivals to FA cup glory, and UEFA cup success. Jealously we looked on, but underneath who could fail to admire the success of the Ipswich Town team of that time.
As a Norwich City supporter of almost 40 years, I offer sincerest condolences for the loss of this great man. Football will be a sadder sport at Sir Bobby's passing. Maybe it will inspire the blues onto greater things this coming season? There should be at least one team from East Anglia in the top league to upset the monopoly of the London and Lancashire teams. One day Norwich will be up there, and hopefully get there by playing the kind of football Bobby would have admired.
All football supporters, no matter who they support, should stand shoulder-to-shoulder and salute the legend that was Sir Bobby Robson. RIP.

As a Sunderland fan who can remember the glory days of Ipswich Town in the late 70's and early 80's i can remember how badly we wanted this guy to manage us. Every time a manager went out of the door at Roker Park Sir Bobby was always top of the list of "WANTED" men by both fans and directors.
Ofcourse your board were never going to let him go to a 2nd Division club and only England could tempt him away....but this guy...well what can you say? I heard it said on Sunday night that in 12 years at Ipswich he only signed 13 players!! Is this true? Cos if it is then it just goes to show the quality of the man. To show faith in youth. To bring players on and trust them to bring you sucess. To show them the right way to play football, because it has to be said that Ipswich Town were one of the most entertaining sides of the time...all down to one man. May god bless him.

Sir Bobby Robson is the only man i can think of who could unite all football fans and he has done today, personally when i think of british football i think of Bobby first and foremost, the man was a workoholic and quite possibly loved the game more than anybody who has lived, he is one of the only Newcastle managers who came and understood the paying supporter and knew what they wanted and did his best to give them 11 players who'd fight and entertain, to see tributes from all over the globe epitomizes the man. Sir Bobby Robson not just a Newcastle and Ipswich legend, a worldwide legend.
Sir Bobby didn't lose to cancer, he beat it 4-1

We here in Australia too feel the loss of one of natures gentlemen and extend our sympathy to the Robson family. A legend now moved on into folklore. Lest we forget.

Sir Bobby, up there with Clough, Sir Alf Ramsey, Bob Paisley, Herbert Chapman, Bill Nicholson, Stan Cullis. Bobby was a true football fan, lived for it, never gived up. A dark day for football across the world, may his inspiration towards the game set an example to all the young players and managers in English football. R.I.P Bobby. Barnsley Fan.
