Bent left the club earlier this month in a £3M move to Charlton, and with Town also having released Spaniard Pablo Counago and Shefki Kuqi's future uncertain, Town boss Joe Royle knows he will have to add at least one striker to his side over the Summer.

Forster is the latest name to be linked with a move to Town, although the Reading frontman has indicated recentley that he would like to play in the Premiership, but it is thought he would be willing to come to Town if he feels the club have a good chance of promotion next campaign.

However, if Royle wants his man, he's likely to have to fight off competition from a host of other sides, including Burnley, QPR, Stoke City and Sheffield United as well as Reading who have had their inital offer of a new contract to Forster turned down by the striker.

31 year old Forster scored nine goals in 34 apperances for Reading last season, having previously reached double figures in the three proceeding seasons for Steve Coppell's side.
