Jewell was not happy with how open his side were as they battled back from 3-1 down to take a point and believes a midfielder to shield the back four is a priority.
He said: "Our two centre-halves have been brilliant since I've been here but it wasn't their best night. Their strikers caused them a lot of problems. I'm not here to knock them, though, because the whole team have been smashing.
"But we need a holding midfield player to make it easier for our back four, to stop the flow of attacks - especially at home. We want to go forward but that can leave us vulnerable on the counter-attack.
"The fans will go home entertained and be happy that the team gave everything they've got. We could have thrown the towel in and hidden but we kept going."
