"We have worked hard on building the lad's confidence up which has probably taken a jolt recently, so it was good to see a positive reaction from him.
"He had a good 45 minutes and all that was missing was a goal, but I'm sure that will come. Like any striker though, he will be judged on his goal return."
Speaking of the game itself, Magilton added: "It was just what we were looking for, a fantastic work-out. It was played at a high tempo, in a competitive nature, with plenty of good football as well.
"Alan Lee got a half under his belt, Owen Garvan had 20 minutes or so, which all helps towards their match fitness, and generally it was an excellent exercise and sets us up for an exciting week ahead."
