In his autobiography Royle claimed that Ipswich would be his last job in football management and he confirmed that, speaking to fanzine Those Were The Days: "I have certainly had no contact with Sheffield United and I can't help it if there is speculation.
"I can rule myself out of that one. I'm very happy here and have a job to do - and as I've always said this will be my last job before I retire."
The tabloid paper, The Sun, still maintained yesterday that 56 year old Royle would break his £350,000 a year contract to join the high-flying Blades after the 'inevitable' departure of Neil Warnock to Portsmouth.
However, the BBC broke the story this morning that Warnock was staying with The Blade Blades' chairman Kevin McCabe announced: "We are delighted Neil Warnock's future remains here. "
