Speaking to the Official Club Website the former Manchester City boss said of academy product Bowditch: "Dean is ready to challenge for a place in the attack and score goals for us.
"He can play wide or down the middle and gives us the option of playing with three forwards if required as well.
"We have brought in Sam and Nicky and I like the look of them as a pair. Sam is comfortable with the ball and has regularly scored 24,25 goals in a season.
"Nicky will give us pace on the break and I've been a big admirer of his play for a while so with Dean in there as well we will have variation and competition for places."
