Keane can turn around Ipswich

Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane believes that he can still turn round his side's season, despite Sunday's thumping 4-1 derby day defeat by Norwich City.Town's fourth straight league defeat, the first time they have conceded four goals in an East Anglian Derby, leaves Keane's men 16th in the table.

Keane told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I do feel I can turn things around.

"But you need that time and support and sometimes you don't get that - I live in the real world."

Keane, who resigned as Sunderland manager two years ago this week, added: "If the morning comes and I don't think I can turn things around, I'm not one for hanging around."

The difference between the two sides today was not in fact Grant Holt - but Roy Keane

But Ipswich are still only six points off the Championship play-off places - and Keane knows that it is up to him to put things right.

"The supporters will go away questioning myself," he said. "And I don't have a problem with that. The buck stops with the manager.

"I suppose people are fed up of me saying it. We keep making the same basic errors.

"I've probably said it since I walked in the door at Ipswich, added Keane, who took over at Portman Road in April 2009. "It was the same last year. Last minute goals, people not doing the basics right.

"No excuses. The supporters know that we're all fed up of listening to my excuses and I'm fed up myself.

"We're in this industry and if you don't get results you're going to suffer for it.

"A lot of teams are going to lose football matches, but the way we lose them is hard to take.

"We give so many teams a helping hand and to keep making the same mistakes - sometimes it keeps coming from the same places - you've got to sort that out."

Town have a chance to put Sunday's disappointment to one side when they face West Bromwich Albion in Wednesday night's League Cup quarter final at Portman Road.

Ipswich have five out injured, Connor Wickham, Gareth McAuley, Tom Eastman, Mark Kennedy and Luke Hyam, as well as right-back Gianni Zuiverloon, who is on loan from the Baggies and therefore unavailable to play.

And Keane has now also lost defender Damien Delaney, following Sunday's red card at Carrow Road.
