Tonight Wigan completed discussions with the former Sporting Libson left hand midfielder and Mahon passed a medical leaving just the paperwork to be finished tommorow morning before Mahon can link up with his new team-mates.
The fee for the 25 year old is at the moment undisclosed, but in any case it would have been beyond anything that Town could have afforded because of their current financial restrictions which mean they are unable to fund anything other than a loan.
Mahon looks set to ironically make his debut for the Latics in Saturday's Division One clash against Town at Portman Road which will be shown live on Sky Sports.
