Makin previously indicated to Town that he would be signing a two month deal with the club which would be extended to a one year deal if he could prove his fitness.
However in a dramatic U-Turn last month, Makin changed his mind, and left the club when his contract expired at the end of June and joined the Foxes on trial, which today was extended into a full time one year deal by Mickey Adams.
Speaking of Makin's move, Royle told the East Anglian Daily Times this morning: "I'm not surprised Chris has signed for Leicester but it is only a one-year deal.
"If he had stayed with us then once he had shown he was fully fit at the end of the two months which we had offered then we would have been talking about a two-year deal at least. "
