The Blues £1.1M signing from Sunderland did not play after August last term following a hip injury that proved difficult to track down and needed two operations to correct.
Speaking of his progress over the Summer towards his comeback, Makin told the Official Club Website: "I can't wait to get going again, especially getting back to kicking a ball and playing in the pre-season friendlies. My recovery is all going according to plan and there have been no reactions so far to the surgery, touch wood.
"Last season was a nightmare for me. The injury was bad enough but there was a real concern that the specialists couldn't find out what the problem was and that was the most frustrating thing.
Makin a Way Back
"Hopefully it's all sorted out now and I just want to get out there on the pitch. I can't wait for the pre-season games to come around and I am confident I will be fit for the tour to Denmark as well."
