Makin has signed on a 2 month deal until the end of August which will become a 12 month deal if he proves his fitness, while young goalkeeper Lewis Price has signed for 12 months.
Speaking of the signing of his contract, Former Sunderland star Makin told the East Anglian Daily Times: "I'm happy with that. Apart from the running I'm actually looking forward to pre season. I can't wait for that first game, I don't care who it is against I just can't wait.
Meanwhile Wales Under 19 international Price is also happy with his deal: "I'm staying. I love it here and I'm learning so much. The idea is for me to possibly go out on loan next season to get more experience but I will remain an Ipswich player."
Town's other five out of contract players, Richard Naylor, Fabian Wilnis, Jermaine Wright, John McGreal and captain Jim Magilton are currentley deciding what they will do after also being offered new deals.
