The popular former Sunderland Left back has been missing from the blues side since the home defeat against West Ham, and was hoping to mark the reserves tie as his comeback to full fitness.
Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times about the setback, the disappointed Makin said: “I knew within 10 to 15 minutes that is was not right and felt it in the same place.
“I will wait a couple of days to see how bad it is but hopefully it is not a case of being back to square one. It didn't feel like another tear so hopefully I won't be out too long. It has been a nightmare not playing and I was really looking forward to getting back on the pitch, so this is a real blow.”
Aidian Collins was also streched off early in the game with suspected ligament damage, whilst Tommy Miller came through his first 45 minutes on his road to recovery unscatheed.
