The 31 year old defender turned down a new contract at the club at the weekend after previously indicating he was happy to sign it. It's thought that Makin was unhappy at the length and terms of it, and will today hold talks with Town boss Joe Royle to try to come to some arrangement of a better deal.
Makin was said to have been offered a two month deal by the club, which was subject to be turned into a 12 month deal should Makin come through the pre-season campaign without any setbacks or injury problems, but Makin has now indicated he wants something with a bit more security.
Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, Makin commented: "It is normal contract negotiations – as simple as that. They have started at one end and I want a bit more – that is normal.
"I was resigned to the deal that was offered in May but I have had a think about it and I'm not particularly happy with it. I will have talks with Joe and we will go from there but it is no big deal.
"I have had no concrete offers from elsewhere or anything like that, I would just like something a bit more than has been put down just now. "
Makin missed all but August of last season following a hip injury that required two operations before it was properly fixed and he was able to start building up to be playing again.
