The Town striker has so far scored eight goals for the club this season, and has made it clear he would like to stay at The Walkers Stadium rather than return to Portman Road when his loan period expires.
Speaking of the chances of a full time move to the Foxes, Bent said: "If Leicester can stay in the Premiership then hopefully the club can take me on. I'd certainly like to stay.
"Everyone wants to play in the Premiership. I've come from Ipswich to try and prove myself in this division and by going down at the end of the season I don't want to end up back in Division One.
"Do I need to be in the Premiership next season? I can't really talk about it - but yes. I'm ambitious and being a sportsman - a boxer, a runner whatever - you want to be at the top.
"We also know that Leicester have not had the best of times financially and it would be a big blow to go into the First Division.
"But we know we are capable of staying up because a lot of players in this team have played at the top. If we can get a run going, then I'm sure we can get up the table.''
