The former Leicester City defender suffered the injury in last weekends defeat to Cardiff when clearing the ball off the line and had initally been regarded as doubtful for this weekends game.
Confirming his thoughts to the club website, McAuley said: "I'm confident I'll be okay for the weekend.
"I was patched up by the medical team at half-time with a lot of strapping and we were going to see how it went for the first five or ten minutes, but it was okay in the second half.
"My shin is still sore and I haven't trained but it's improving and I'm pretty sure I'll be fine for the Coventry match."
