Joe Royle told the club website, "Hatlepool have expressed an interest in Dean going there on loan for a month,"
Joe seemed happy for the 19 year old to get some extra first-team experience,
"We've had a chat about it and it will be a good oppourtunity for him."
McDonald, who can operate as a winger or a striker has made eight senior appearances, five of those as a substitute, since signing a one-year deal in the summer.
With a nearly fully-fit squad to choose from, McDonald's first-team chances could be limited at present.
His agent is currently in negotitations with Hartlepool and Dean and news of further developments is expected before Saturday's trip to Coventry.
