Academy manager Sammy Morgan has backed Mike Pejic to succeed at bringing through the next crop of young talent at Ipswich. The former Stoke defender, who made over 350 appearances for the Potters, signed a two-year contract to become head of youth coaching and coaching education at Portman Road last month and his new role will also include managing the club's Under-18 side. Pejic also had spells as a player with Everton and Aston Villa, as well as playing four times for England at senior level, while he previously spent time coaching at Port Vale, Stoke and Chester. "I've known Mike since we were players and I can remember playing against him for Northern Ireland when he was in the England side," Morgan told the club's official website. "He's got bags of experience, is a highly respected coach and has worked at every level in the same, both in this country and abroad. "The manager was fully supportive of Mike joining us. The boys are already benefiting from working with him and I'm sure he will prove to be a great asset to youth development at this club over the next two years."
