Speaking to the Official Club Website, the Murcia born 32 year old said: "I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity to join such an ambitious club as Ipswich Town.
"I know Roy wants to take this club forward and win a place in the Premier League and I'm looking forward to playing my part in that challenge."
Town boss Roy Keane added: :"I worked alongside Antonio at Sunderland and I know what qualities he can bring to this Football Club. He will be a valuable asset as part of our coaching staff and I'm delighted that he has agreed to join us."
It is understood that Gomez will work alongside current Town fitness coach Simon Thadani at the club rather than as a replacement.
