McCormick was jailed for seven years in October 2008 after causing the deaths of two young boys whilst driving dangerously at speeds of over 100mph after he fell asleep at the wheel under the influence of alcohol on the return from the Town midfielders wedding.

Norris appeared to make a handcuff celebration directed at his jailed former team-mate following his goal in the 1-0 win over Blackpool at the weekend, a celebration which has angered the family of the deceased.

Speaking to the National Press, Amanda Peak, mother of the two boys killed in the crash, said: "I'm disgusted. To celebrate a goal like that is disrespectful to me and my husband and my boys. He should be given a ban by his club.#

"Norris is doing this in front of thousands of supporters, including children, and sending out the wrong message that we can drink and drive and it's OK to kill someone."

Norris denied making a handcuff gesture, but instead insisted it was a private message: "It wasn't a handcuffs sign it was a private message but I can see how people might have seen it like that and I apologise if it's caused any offence."

A spokesperson for the club has confirmed action will be taken aganst Norris and it's likely that a club statement will be released later today.
