ITFM reported that Horlock was told earlier in the week that he would not be handed a new contract in the summer and would be given the chance to find a new club in the present January transfer window.

It has emerged today that Oldham boss Ronnie Moore has been in contact with Horlock's agent about the possibility of taking him on a loan deal.

Moore said: "I know he is available and I have been looking at games he has played and injuries he has had.

"I have already put in a phone call to his agent. We will wait and see."

Horlock has featured in 17 games for Ipswich so far this season but the recent recruits of Gavin Williams and Vermund Brekke-Skard have given Royle more options in his midfield.
