Newcastle have been long term admirers of Bent, and it's understood that Sir Bobby Robson is keen to add Bent along with colleague Dean Bowditch to his squad to join existing ex Ipswich Players Titus Bramble, Kieron Dyer and Darren Ambrose at St James' Park.
The Tottenham link is one which has not surfaced before however, and with Tottenham currentley looking for a new full time manager, any such move looks unlikely to happen.
