The reports seem to suggest that the few senior members of the squad that are remaining at the club are very unhappy to see their team-mates leaving the club for other sides in the First Division, and feel that it could have a negative effect on the club's promotion chances.
Along with the exits of both Jermaine Wright and John McGreal to Coca Cola Championship rivals, the sale of high wage earner Marcus Bent to Everton, the prospective paying off of Martijn Reuser's contract and the release of Alun Armstrong along with Chris Bart-Williams has less than impressed many players.
The fact that Chris Makin and Fabian Wilnis are stalling on new contracts and Jim Magilton and Richard Naylor are yet to sign is also unlikely to impress many players, who feel that if the downsizing of the squad continues promotion could be outside their reach.
