ITFM understands that Ian Holloway has expressed an interest in signing the former Sheffield United centre back and Santos' advisers are said to be in talks with both Queens Park Rangers and Burnley over possible moves away from Portman Road.
Santos joined Town from Grimsby last Summer and was initally offered a 3 month contract at the club, before being offered a longer two year deal after the departure of Danish International defender Thomas Gaardsoe to West Bromwich Albion for £500,000.
After starting off the season in midfield to little effect for Town, Santos was moved to central defence and played a part in all six of the clubs league clean sheets. However Santos was also involved in all but one of the eleven games last season where Town let in three or more goals.
With Town having three other senior centre backs at the club, Drissa Diallo, Richard Naylor and Jason De Vos as well as the emergence of youngsters Gerard Nash and Aidan Collins, Town have decided that the Frenchman is surplus to requirements, and will be allowed to leave on a free transfer.
It's unlikely that any decision over Georges' future and where it may lie will be made until after the weekend.
