We understand that the two clubs have agreed a up-front fee worth around £150,000 for the 19 year old, which could rise to just over £750,000 should certain performance related clauses be met. The accepted offer was the second bid from Huddersfield, having had a smaller offer previously rejected.
Speaking to the Huddersfield Examiner, Terriers boss Lee Clark said: "We have had reports done on different people while we've been out doing our scouting and Rhodes is a player like hundreds we have watched over the months.
"All I can say is that there was a little bit of movement yesterday on a player we were talking to and a deal is possibly a little bit closer, but until the contracts are signed these days you are better off not making any comment because you never know what can happen."
Rhodes is the second striker to be linked with a move away from Portman Road in the last week, with Pablo Counago rejecting the chance to join Swansea late last week,, however we understand that the deal for the Spaniard is not totally dead following further talks behind the scenes.
