Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times at the prospect of new faces, Royle said: "I know who we want and we are waiting. I can't make it any more urgent than it already is and it will happen when it happens. Jim [Magilton] would make a difference because he would give us another strong man on the pitch."
Royle has previously been linked to bringing in a Premiership defender, with Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte being the suspected number one target. However Hoyte is still wanted at Highbury, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has refused to let the England Under 21 international join Town.
Former Everton boss Royle is also said to be desperate to find a striker that can hold the ball up, and has already added strength to his midfield by the loan signing of Tony Dinning.
