Speaking in the pre-match press conference held in the Ipswich Town Media centre, Royle explained that the supporters influence on the game should not be taken lightly.
"The supporters at this Club are fantastic and we need them right behind us for Saturday's game with Coventry because I'm sure it's going to be a tough one for us," Said Joe.
"Sometimes the fans need a spark in the game early on to get them going and sometimes the players need the supporters to create an atmosphere to get them going, it can happen both ways.
"If our terrific fans can generate the kind of brilliant atmosphere that was at Portman Road on Wednesday night when England played here it will be like an extra player to us."
Town go into the game with just one point from two league games, after a late Tommy Miller penalty gave the blues a point against Reading on the opening weekend of the season and last week Town failed to find the net and lost away to Crewe by a single goal.
