Speaking to the Official Club Website Royle said he was most confident about keeping Jim Magilton and Richard Naylor at the club: "I have spoken to Jim and Richard and the signs are encouraging. I am as confident as I can be that they will sign, 99 per cent sure.

Meanwhile although less confident about Fabian Wilnis signing, Royle still expects the Dutchman to do so: "Fabian Wilnis has also indicated that he will be staying but the players are still contracted to the Club until the end of the month anyway so we will see what happens then."

Chris Makin is the fourth and final player who's contract runs out from midnight on 1st July and after first appearing to accept a new deal from the club, Makin changed his mind at the weekend saying he expected something longer than the two year deal on offer.

"I was surprised when Chris turned down the contract but I have not had time to sit down with him today and discuss the situation further. That will probably happen on Tuesday." added Royle.

Of prospective new signings, the former Everton boss said that much would depend on who is staying and who is leaving the club: "I will be more aware of where we stand later in the week and then I can see what squad I have in front of me.

"Only then will I start to move forward. July is the time when you start to see players moving around so I am not worried about the time factor."
