Makin turned down an inital two month contract at Portman Road which would have been followed up by a years contract last week, and suggested that if he was to stay at the club, Town would have to make him a better offer than a two month deal.
Makin yesterday, now a free agent so perfectly within his rights to do so, did not turn up for training, which fuelled rumours that previously indicated he was in talks with another club, thought to be either Queens Park Rangers or former boss George Burley's Derby County.
However since then it has emerged that there may be a Premiership side in to secure his services that would be able to offer him a longer contract than Town on better wages, one of which Makin will no doubt be happy to take to ensure better security than what he would have at Portman Road.
Speaking to itfc.co.uk about the current Makin situation, Royle said: "I have been trying to contact him but to no avail and until I speak to him, I don't know what he is doing or where he will be playing football next season. On the face of it at the moment though, it looks as if it won't be with us."
