The 18 year old Republic of Ireland youth Captain came on for the last 15 minutes of Town's thrashing of Burnley at Portman Road, and impressed many with his brief, but solid peformance.
Speaking to the official club website, Town manager Joe Royle confessed he has great confidence in the Dublin born player: "Gerard is a player, there is no doubt about that. He's terrific at bringing the ball out from the back and along with Aidan Collins, who is 17 this week, we have a very bright future in the central defensive positions."
It's believed that the substitution of Georges Santos, which allowed Nash his debut, was purely tactical and was not due to any reoccurance of the groin injury that threatened to rule the former Sheffield United player out of Town's last two games.
