Kuqi turned down the chance to move to German club Hansa Rostock on Trial, after Town boss Joe Royle told the former Sheffield Wednesday player he could leave on a free transfer. Now though, Shefki says he very much wants to stay at Portman Road.
Speaking in this mornings East Anglian Daily Times, the Finnish international said: "I would prefer to play in England and preferably with Ipswich Town. I'm happy here in Ipswich and it would have to be something a lot better for me to move on.
"Hansa wanted me to go over on trial but I said no to that. I have heard about a few clubs wanting me which shows I must be doing something right. It is difficult for footballers to keep moving around, starting all over again with another club, another set of players and if you go abroad, a new culture.
Sunderland are said to be also interested in acquiring the strong forwards services after letting both Darren Byfield, who Town will face on Saturday playing for Gillingham, and Tommy Smith go in the Summer.
