Ipswich defender Tommy Smith hopes that his World Cup exploits will help him nail down a spot in Roy Keane's first XI. The 20-year-old played in all three group games for New Zealand and has now set his sights on becoming the first name on Keane's team sheet this year. He told the club's official website: "I was in and out of the team last season and I had a couple of injuries. "The World Cup was a great experience and has given me a lift and hopefully I can use that to help me get in the team. "That's my main target for the new season. To impress the manager and force my way into the side on a regular basis."
